FAIRFIELD, Conn. – March 2, 2020 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) sponsorship committee, led by Executive Director Peter Cashman and Stanford University Coach Vanessa Bartsch, announced that Eastern Hay as the official provider of hay for the IHSA. In a multi-year contract penned in January, Eastern Hay offers its services to IHSA team facilities across the country.
“We are excited to welcome Eastern Hay as the official hay supplier of the IHSA,” Cashman said. “I know firsthand the quality of the services and the product they supply.”
Owner Chris Johnson’s family founded a family-run dairy farm in 1923. Around 40 years ago, the family refocused their efforts into hay production and service. Today, Eastern Hay supplies their top-notch, hay, grain and shavings to equestrian facilities nation and worldwide.
The Eastern Hay team is known for giving back to the community and the equestrian sports. They offer ongoing support to area nonprofits. One of the organizations that Eastern Hay supports is Lucky Orphan’s Horse Rescue in Dover Plains, New York, a horse rescue that offers equine-assisted psychotherapy.
In the equestrian sports, they have sponsored Longines Masters New York, Old Salem Farm and the American Gold Cup, the Central Park Horse Show, Monmouth at the Team, Garden State Horse Show and more.
With Eastern Hay's farming heritage, they understand what goes into growing quality forage. No chemicals are used to cure their hay, nor do they source treated hay. Johnson is committed to maintaining a level of excellence in both their products and customer service.

The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) welcomes men and women of all riding levels and offers individual and team competition in hunter seat equitation, Western horsemanship and reining at more than 400 member colleges and universities. Membership in IHSA means that college students can participate in horse shows regardless of their experience or financial status.
