Investers Norfleet (a.k.a "Norman") came to Albion College in July 2018 to join the Albion Western herd. He quickly warmed the hearts of his students and became a fan favorite throughout the region. Norman is shown in the Beginner Western Horsemanship level through Open Western Horsemanship, Level II Ranch Riding and has made several appearances in Hunt Seat shows hosted by Albion! He also supported some IHSA horse shows for Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY before moving to Michigan!
Prior to retiring from his show career to become a "college professor", Norman earned hundreds of points showing in Youth, Amateur and Open all-around events in the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and Pinto Horse Association (PtHA). In 2017, Norman earned two Reserve Champion awards at the PtHA Color Breed Congress (Tulsa, OK) in Open Ranch Riding and Ranch Trail, as well as finishing 6th nationally in the APHA Senior Ranch Riding.
Norman is described as a school horse saint who is beloved by IHSA students and coaches alike. He has made a strong impact on many student-athletes and has continually offered those great first experiences for a countless number of individuals. In fact, at the 2022 IHSA Western Semi Finals in Galva, IL, he was awarded the Horse of the Show for his contribution to the show!
Norman is on lease to Albion College through the generosity of Kelsey Keathly and we could not be more blessed to have such a wonderful addition to our herd!
