To apply for consideration for an IEF Scholarship Award, applicants should submit a complete, neatly typed Scholarship Application package that must include: a completed and typed IEF Scholarship Application Form (applications may be on separated, computer-printed sheets, corresponding to the numbers/sections of the application); current official college transcript ideally sent to their Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Regional President (if need be can be sent directly to IEF); and at least two current recommendations.
IHSA members must submit a completed application with all attachments to their Regional President no later than February 10, 2016. If uncertain who your IHSA Regional President is, please consult your college coach or IHSAinc.com. IHSA non-member applicants must submit completed applications and all attachments by February 10 directly to IEF, c/o Lisa A. Bailey, 18 Crown Lane, Greenwich, CT 06831. Last year IEF awarded six Scholarship Awards in memory of coaches and individuals that served the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), including former director of the scholarship foundation, Joan Johnson. Today the IEF is under the direction of retired Stony Brook University IHSA team coach George Lukemire.
2015 IEF Memorial Scholarship Award recipients represented excellence from Avarett University, Bridgewater College, Black Hawk East College, Centenary College, Pennsylvania State University and Truman State University. IEF also awarded five Equus Foundation Scholarships and 19 IEF Scholarships.
IHSA promotes competition for riders of all skill levels, individually and as teams, at regional to national levels, based on the principle that any college student should be able to participate in shows regardless of financial status or riding level.
