FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Nov. 04, 2019 – North America’s premier equine exposition and gathering will be held in West Springfield, Massachusetts, Nov. 7-10. The four-day event is an opportunity for horse enthusiasts to experience one of the largest equine-related events in the country, including a trade show, educational events, breed exhibits, demonstrations, top clinicians and more. The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) will be on-site to educate college-bound students and their families about the opportunities to ride and compete at the collegiate level.
IHSA is open to men and women of all riding levels in the hunter seat and Western disciplines. The organization provides students with the opportunity to ride and compete during their college years without the expense of horse ownership.
IHSA will have an information booth located in the Better Living Center, booth #917. C.J. Law, the successful head coach of the Mount Holyoke College riding team, IHSA team members and representatives from IHSA will be at the booth to field questions.
One of the top coaches in the nation, Law has guided the Mount Holyoke team to many championships including three IHSA National Championships, four Tournament of Champions titles and a Mid-South Classic Championship. Under her guidance multiple students have claimed Cacchione Cup honors. At the 2019 Finals, Law's students shined. Most notably Sara Hearn was National Champion in Intermediate Equitation Over Fences and Libby Sams received Honorable Mention in Individual Novice Equitation on the Flat. Law has been featured in Practical Horseman and has written training articles published by the magazine.
“Equine Affaire is a wonderful event for all equestrians. It brings the disciplines together and offers amazing opportunities for people to further their horsemanship,” Law said. “It is a great place for horse people to reconnect with friends from across the country."
This year, Equine Affaire will present a College/Career Fair Saturday, Nov. 9. It begins at 10 a.m. with a presentation, 'Exploring Equine Careers and College Options' with Karin Bump, PHD. It will be followed by the College/Career Scavenger Hunt from 10 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. The Scavenger Hunt is an engaging way to meet a variety of industry professionals and college representatives and win fun prizes.
