IHSA NAMES 2019 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO INTERNS

Halley Guptil

Fairfield, Conn. — May 2, 2019—The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) selected four members out of 24 applicants for the 2018 IHSA National Championship Candid Photography Internship and the Video Internship. Halley Guptil, Ellyn Narodowy, Nicole Sullivan and Irina Hulse will travel to Nationals May 2–5 at the New York State Fair Expo Center in Syracuse, NY to capture the action behind the scenes. The photography interns contribute images to IHSA communications each year. This year will be the first for the IHSA to have a video intern.

Halley Guptil hails from Clinton Township, Michigan, and is currently a freshman studying Psychology and Sociology with a concentration in Law, Justice and Society at Albion College. She began taking lessons when she was 5, started showing when she was 7, and went to her first rated show when she was 12. Guptil currently competes in the Novice division for her team.

Guptil said, “I am looking forward to IHSA Nationals because this is a unique opportunity to work with other photographers and learning about photography in different settings.”

Ellyn Narodowy of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, rides in the Novice division for Sweet Briar College. Narodowy has been riding since she was 12 years old. She is in her junior year of studies as a Business major.
 
“I am very grateful that IHSA has given me this opportunity to put my photography skills to the test and I am excited to meet new people in the process!” Narodowy said.

Nicole Sullivan

Nicole Sullivan

Nicole Sullivan from North Reading, Massachusetts, is a freshman at Marist College studying Fashion Merchandising with a concentration in Fashion Promotions and a Global Studies Pathway and minoring in Journalism and Fashion Production. Sullivan originally rode Western but switched to hunter seat when she arrived at Marist. She now competes for the team’s Walk-Trot division.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity,” Sullivan said. “Photography and horses are two of my absolute favorite things and being able to put them together is such a dream. I never thought as a freshman I would be awarded this internship, but I am so thankful to have it!”

 

Irina Hulse

Irina Hulse

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Irina Hulse will fulfill the position of video intern for the IHSA. Hulse has been riding for 15 years and competes for the Savannah College of Art and Design in the Advanced Walk Trot Canter division. She is currently a junior majoring in Film.

“I am excited for this chance and the opportunity to do equine video work as I am interested in equine video and photo and directing Hulse said.”
 
The IHSA will feature the photos and video from all interns in their communications throughout the upcoming year.
