IHSA Service Projects - Get Recognized!

At the IHSA Nationals, teams present their projects to an awards committee and winners are chosen at each category level. Categories are determined by team size.

IHSA Service award committee received many wonderful presentations at Nationals 2013. Choosing a winner in each category is always difficult. Below is a synopsis each of them.

Curry College - worked at the Massachutes Hospital School and their therapeutic riding programs.

Hofstra University - these students spent their school year helping re-build surrounding communities devastated by hurricane Sandy. Hofstra Alumni did a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.

Gettsyburg College - These students volunteered at the Hoffman Home for Youth - a residential psychiatric treatment center that offers a therapeutic riding program.

Colby College - The Thomas County Salvation Army was the recepient of their hard work.

Tiffin University - These students had a polka run and donated their money to the Make a Wish foundation and the Garlo Park heritage Nature Preserve.

Lander University - These students worked at the Bearcat therapeutic riding program.

Mount Holyoke - These students volunteered at a farm that has a therapeutic program and horse rescue. The farm had been hit hard by the severe winter. The students helped them rebuild. Last year this team helped rebuild a local zoo, which had been badly damaged during a storm.

Penn State - These students raised money to fight pediatric cancer through THON - the world’s largest student run philanthropy.

SUNY Geneso - This team held a horse show and raised money for Breast Cancer Awareness - they also collected non perishable food for local food pantries.

How to get your team's projects recognized:

Complete and submit the Service Award Application by March 1, 2014.
