High-Point Rider Competition Heats Up Day Two of the 2024 IHSA National Championship

Gladys, Va. – May 4, 2024 – The second day of competition at the 2024 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship held at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina featured the USHJA Hunter Seat High-Point Rider, Presenting the Cacchione Cup and Back on Track Western High-Point Rider. After the 16 riders completed the Bill Yeager (Midland, Virginia) designed course, the judges requested to test the top five. Sadie Nesbitt (Rochester, New York) from Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, New York) was champion in the Horseware Ireland Team Intermediate Equitation Over Fences aboard the 17h chestnut gelding, Avatar from Miami University of Ohio (Oxford, Ohio). Taking home the reserve championship title was Sierra Smith from Intermont Equestrian at Emory and Henry College and Centenary University’s Denmark. The University of Delaware (Newark, Delaware) sophomore Natalie Onisko from Cranford, New Jersey, piloted the Centenary University mount, George to third place.

Tough Competition Saddled Up on Day One of the 2024 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championship

Gladys, VA – May 3, 2024 – Day one of the 2024 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship held at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina featured hunter seat and Western riders competing in individual and team classes. In a special highlight, Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Rebecca Huddleston and Julie Mann.

2024 IHSA National Champions will be Crowned at Tryon International

Gladys, Va. – April 27, 2024 – The 2024 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship will be held May 3-5 at Tryon International in Mill Spring, North Carolina. Hundreds of equestrians from colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada will compete on their school teams or individually in all levels of hunter seat equitation on the flat and over fences and western divisions, including horsemanship, ranch riding and reining.

Zone Championships Determine Hunter Seat Competitors for IHSA National Championship

Gladys, Va. ­­– April 18, 2024 – The Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) held eight Zone Finals March 30-April 6. The eight Zone hunter seat competitions produced across North America were qualifying events for the 2024 IHSA National Championship to be showcased at the indoor complex at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina, May 3-5.

Mount Holyoke College, Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Findlay Earn Team Wins at IHSA Semi-Finals, Presented by NRHA

The events were hosted by the University of Findlay (Findlay, Ohio), Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro, Tennessee) and Albion College (Albion, Michigan).

Application Now Open for Photography/Videography Internships at the 2024 IHSA National Championship

Gladys, Va. – Jan. 22, 2024 – The leadership of the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) invites any undergraduate IHSA member with strong photography and/or videography skills to apply for the 2024 IHSA National Championship Photography/Videography Internships. The Nationals' photography and videography interns will be asked to capture candid photographs and videos during the event, including the warm-up arenas, mounting areas, grandstands and awards.

As the National Horse Show (NHS) begins, host of the coveted ASPCA Maclay National Championship, four Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) riders prepare to compete in the Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) Adult Equitation Championship. The NHS is held at the Kentucky Horse Park Oct. 25 - Nov. 5, 2023, with the THIS Adult Equitation Championship held on Oct. 26.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Sarah Eberspacher Earns Back on Track Western High-Point Rider Title at the IHSA 2023 National Championship Horse Show

The 2023 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship Horse Show ended by naming Sarah Eberspacher from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as the Back on Track Western High-Point Rider. Middle Tennessee State University rode to the top as the Western Team Champions, presented by the American Paint Horse Association (APHA).

After an eight-year drought without a Nationals qualifier, the UConn Western Team had two riders qualify – one in AQHA/NRHA Individual Ranch Riding and AQHA Level II Horsemanship and the other in Individual Beginner Horsemanship.

Western Judges Holly Hover and Debra Jones-Wright Share their Thoughts About the 2023 IHSA National Championship

Holly Hover (Cave Creek, Arizona) and Debra Jones-Wright (Abbeville, South Carolina) officiated all the Western divisions at the 2023 IHSA National Championship Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky. Both bring more than three decades of judging experience, holding cards with AQHA, APHA, NSBA, NRHA and more. They shared their experience from the last few days of judging the IHSA riders.
